OUR PROJECTS
Family Farm: Grid-Tied Resilience Meets Rural Autonomy
For this rural family, past solar systems had fallen short; therefore, when it came to powering their main home and farm, they sought a solution that truly delivered. We designed a robust, large-scale grid-tied system with full off-grid capability, giving them energy independence, resilience during outages, and real financial savings.

Location: Remote working farm with a large family home
Client Type: Permanent residence with workshop
System Type: Three-phase grid-tied with full stand-alone capability
Key Goals: Resilience, cost savings, and energy independence
The Challenge
The family had experience with multiple solar installations on other properties—none of which had lived up to expectations. For their main home and farm, they needed a system that offered resilience, reduced grid dependency, and gave real savings. The challenge was designing a large-scale grid-tied system that could operate independently when needed, including during outages.
Our Solution
We delivered a powerful and flexible three-phase system capable of full stand-alone operation.
System Specs: 50 kW three-phase system with 15 kW per phase grid feed-in capacity
Energy Storage: 120V battery bank storing 200 kWh
Smart Programming: Automatically uses free hourly power and avoids peak tariffs
Construction: Full array foundation built on-site, including pile driving
The Outcome
The farm now experiences zero outages and has eliminated monthly electricity costs, with a net credit back to their account. The robust system provides both resilience and significant savings.
Savings: No power bills and credits back from the grid
Performance: Seamless switch to off-grid operation when required
Key Takeaways
Strategic programming and premium storage unlock real cost savings
Grid-tied systems can still provide full off-grid functionality when designed properly
Reliable infrastructure is essential on working farms—there’s no room for failure
"Very professional job done with the solar system and battery set-up. The first one that has not given me any problems. Put solar and batteries on three other places including one in Australia."
