Where Off-Grid Energy started
Paul brings an exceptional 35 years of experience as a qualified electrician and electrical inspector to every installation. Even during his 13-year service with the police force, Paul maintained his electrical certification and continued working in the field, ensuring his skills remained sharp and current. As an electrical inspector, Paul stays meticulously up-to-date with all electrical regulations—a critical advantage that ensures every system we install is fully compliant and, most importantly, safe for your home and family.
Paul began his journey into off-grid solar over 15 years ago, driven by his love for complex challenges. Unlike grid-tied systems, off-grid installations demand intricate design, precise engineering, and adaptability—the perfect match for his problem-solving mindset.
Before Off-Grid Energy
Before establishing Off-Grid Energy, Paul served as a key member of New Zealand's search and rescue team during his time with the police force. Managing and working with every aspect of multi-agency rescue operations in remote locations gave him invaluable experience that directly translates to his solar work today. This background has proven essential when coordinating complex installations in hard-to-reach locations where logistics involve barges, helicopters, heavy machinery, and multiple contractors.
